Gov. Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa, says he plans to sign the state Child Right Bill into law, as soon as the grey areas in the bill are sorted out and formalities concluded.
Fintiri said this in Yola on Thursday at a formal launch of a book titled “Situation Analysis of Children in Adamawa (SITAN).
”This document was jointly put together by the state planning commission in collaboration with United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) to address child related cases,” he said.
He said investment in children was the right thing to do to secure the future of the children.
“My administration is fully committed to the implementation of policies that will enhance child’s protection and welfare,” Fintiri said.
He said that his administration has made provision of free education a priority, as well as establishment of viable health insurance scheme and construction of healthcare facilities stocked with drugs and related consumables.
The governor appreciated UNICEF for partnering with the government in publishing the book.
“I urge all stakeholders to continue to support government policies for the wellbeing of children,” he said.
