Calvin Bassey will look to make his second appearance in the UEFA Champions League when Ajax face Liverpool at the Anfield on Tuesday (today), reports Promptnewsonline.com.
Bassey made his bow in the prestigious competition for the Eredivisie champions against his former club, Glasgow Rangers last week.
The 22-year-old grabbed an assist in the 4-0 demolition of Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s men at the Johan Cruyff Arena.
The versatile defender sustained a minor calf injury in Ajax’s 5-0 win against SC Heerenveen at the weekend but has recovered in time for the game.
Bassey has settled down well at his new club and has made Ajax fans forget Argentina international Lisandro Martinez, who left the club this summer for Manchester United.
The Nigerian has a formed a formidable partnership with Jurrien Timber at the heart of the defence.
Ajax has won won all five games he has featured in the league and Europe this season.
Liverpool will be desperate to bounce back from their matchday one 4-1 loss to Napoli.
