The frontrunner in the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) election that will produce the next President of the federation, Dr. Christian Emeruwa has again posited that he is keen to offer his expertise to improve Nigeria football but not desperate to be the president at all cost.
He also revealed that his major concern is how to use football to create internal football economy that will benefit the stakeholders of the game if voted into office on September 30, 2022, in Benin City, Edo state capital.
Emeruwa who spoke on Channels Television sports programme Sunday Sports monitored in Abuja on Sunday stated unequivocally that he is throwing his hat in the ring for the soon to be vacant post of NFF President because he has the prerequisite and cognitive knowledge and ability to improve the standard of football administration and management in Nigeria.
Said he: “As an expert in sports Administration and Organisation with Ph.D degree in the field and having worked for 11 years in the top manage level in NFF Headquarters before I was poached by the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) where I am the Head/Founder of Safety and Security Department where I supervise the safety and security of football stadia of over 54 Member Assistant (MA), I believe I should come home to replicate what I have learned on the field”.
According to the top Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) Safety and Security Officer who has handled many FIFA World Cup final, he is not desperate to get the position of NFF President to have something doing because he has a job at the moment, adding that he is just eager to take Nigeria out of football doldrum.
“I am not desperate to be President because I have a job. I am desperate to offer my expertise to improve Nigeria football to compare to the standards in other African countries like Morocco, Egypt, South Africa etc, where my tour of duty has exposed me to see first hand how football is organised to provide jobs for the stakeholders. This is why I am in the race”, Emeruwa insists.
Speaking further, the former Head of Integrity Unit of NFF argued that: “My major concern is how to use football to create internal football economy that will benefit stakeholders if voted into office”.
Asked how prepared for the plum job should the Nigeria Football Congress elect him into office on September 30 in Benin City, he said that he has a blueprint that he will implement that will revolutionise football in Nigeria as his administration will implement the Football 10-Year Master Plan recently approved by President Muhammadu Buhari after it was submitted by Honourable Minister of Sports and Youth Development, Chief Sunday Dare.
