Nigerian military authorities have reassured that law and order would be restored in the north eastern part of the country ahead of 2015 so that elections could hold in the troubled areas.
The Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh Wednesday gave the assurance while speaking with State House Correspondents.
He spoke shortly after Service Chiefs held a breakfast security meeting with President Goodluck Jonathan at his residence in the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The Defence Chief expressed optimism that the military would soon get rid of Boko Haram in the frontline states of Adamawa, Borno and Yobe, saying “Elections will hold there. Don’t worry.”
He also said that the military would soon rid the zone of insurgency, adding that the military was keeping an eye on fifth columnists in the country.
According to him, most of the areas occupied by the insurgents had been liberated.
“Normalcy is gradually returning to the areas earlier ravaged by the insurgents including Mubi in Adamawa State,” Badeh said.
On the issue of fake Boko Haram negotiators and fifth columnists that are aggravating the crises, the Defence boss said it was being handled by the Department of State Service.
