By Gracious Akujobi Former captain of the Super Eagles, Joseph Yobo says he is optimistic Super Eagles will come out of their present football wilderness stronger to rule Africa yet again.
Yobo said this in Abuja Thursday evening when he came to watch the training of national U-23 under the watchful eyes of coach Samson Siasia, adding that Super Eagles will like they did in 2013 bounce back from not qualifying for the 2012 African Nations cup to win it again.
“I have no doubt in my mind that the Eagles will overcome the problems that led to their exit from African Cup of Nations billed to hold in Equatorial Guinea next year and come out stronger in subsequent championship.
“It is unfortunate that we did not learn from our error of failing to qualify for the Afcon in 2012 in Abuja by drawing 2-2 with Guinea. I thought we should have done better to beat South Africa and pick one of the tickets for Afcon” he stated
The former Everton of England star said that the Eagles would fight back to regain their place among the best in the continent noting that the talents are there to get the team flying again and possibly win the cup again.
On getting a foreign coach for the Super Eagles Yobo refused to comment but added that he knows that NFF know what to do and believes they will do the right thing by contracting a good coach for the Eagles.
