Former Head of State, General Muhammadu Buhari, was on Thursday formally declared the winner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary held in Lagos State.
Buhari defeated four other aspirants, polling a total of 3, 430 of the total 6, 080 votes cast.
He beat former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Governors Rabiu Kwankwaso of Kano and Rochas Okorocha of Imo as well as Sam Nda Isaiah to win the APC ticket.
“Having won the majority of votes cast, it is my pleasure an honour to declare Muhammadu Buhari as the winner of the APC presidential primary in preparation for the 2015 presidential election”.
With these words, the Chief Returning Officer and former Ekiti State governor Kayode Fayemi, formally declared former Head of State, Muhammadu Buhari, as the APC candidate for the 2015 presidential election.
Fayemi had while announcing the results said, “At the conclusion of voting and counting, the votes received by contestants in alphabetical orders are as follows:
Atiku Abubakar – 954 votes
Muhammadu Buhari – 3, 430 votes
Rabiu Musa Kwanwkwaso – 974 votes
Sam Nda Isahia – 10 votes
Rochas Okorocha – 624 votes
