The Champions of Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL, Rivers United have been rewarded for their performance with $20,000 dollars each as well as Pre-season tour of Spain in preparation for the CAF Champions League tournament.
Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike on Thursday made this known when he hosted the players and officials of the winning team.
Each player in the team gets $20,000 for their performance in the league and will travel to Madrid in Spain for pre-season training.
The governor also promised that the cash reward will be doubled if they qualify from the group stage of the Champions League.
To cap it all, each player also gets Governor’s Medal Service award.
This is the first time Rivers United win league title since the dissolution of Dolphins FC and Sharks FC to form Rivers United.
The Pride of Rivers emerged champions with 77 points in 38 matches.
The club alongside Plateau United will represent Nigeria in the 2022/2023 CAF champions league season.
