A non-governmental organisation, Kimpact Development Initiative (KDI), says it will deploy no fewer than 62 election observers in the forthcoming Osun governorship election.
KDI Executive Director, Mr Olubukola Idowu, said this during a Multi-Stakeholders’ Youth Conference, held on Tuesday in Osogbo.
Idowu said that KDI election observers would be stationed in strategic areas across the state in order to ensure full coverage of the election.
According to him, the election observers will be equipped with modern electronic gadgets to be able to send reports from the field to the situation room.
Idowu said that the conference was aimed at re-awakening electoral consciousness in the youth to enhance their full participation in the election.
He said about 60 per cent of registered voters in the state were youths, adding that they needed to be brought out to vote during the election.
The director said that the need to re-orientate stakeholders not to isolate themselves in electoral processes and make them come out was the reason behind the gathering.
He noted that voter apathy must end through useful engagement from key actors.
Idowu, therefore, appealed to the electorate not to sell their conscience but come out en masse to cast their votes on the election day. (NAN)
