Economic activities in the South East geopolitical zone of the country has completely been destroyed as the people of the once business hub of Nigeria are now unable to practice their trades due to the weekly sit-at-home order.
This is even as the people of the five South East states voluntarily observe a complete shut down of economic activities including the days the trial of Indigenous Peoples of Biafrans (IPOB) leader, Nnamdi Kanu will hold in Abuja.
Prompt News can confirm that business activities are paralyzed every Monday and the day Kanu’s court case will come up like on Tuesday, June 28 when the IPOB leader will be brought to court in Abuja.
From Anambra to Abia, Ebony, Enugu and Imo states, shops were closed and no business activities of any kind took place on Monday while Tuesday will be the same because of the arraignment of the IPOB leader in the Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday.
The Court had at the last sitting in Abuja deferred the trial of the detained
IPOB leader, Kanu till June 28 hence there will be no movement across the entire South East on Tuesday.
The court had also on March 18, 2022 slated Thursday, May 22 to continue further proceedings on the treasonable felony charge the Federal Government preferred against Kanu.
Meanwhile, insecurity is worsening by day in the geopolitical zone as no day passes without cases of killing, kidnapping, robbery, burglary and sundry crimes and criminality in the five states.
In the South East lives does not matter anymore as men of the underworld have taken over the territory and making lives too difficult for the ordinary citizens.
Prompt News witnessed first hand the robbing of a young man of his newly bought motorbike given to him by someone for the purpose of using it for Okada business.
Three young men had emerged from no where in the early hours of Sunday to snatch at the gun point the Okada rider (names withheld) at the Orie Ama market square near Osuh Technical College in Okohia Town in Isiala Mbano Local Government Area of Imo state.
This was after a truck driver was earlier robbed at gun point at the boundary between Okohia Town and Ezihe autonomous community, along the ever-busy Anara-Umuelemai-Umuahia federal roads in Isiala Mbano LGA.
This is the same situation along all the major highways in the five South East geopolitical zone.
