Johan Eliasch was re-elected president of the International Ski Federation (FIS) on a four-year term on Thursday, but some delegates left the vote amid chaotic scenes.
The 60-year-old British-Swedish billionaire, who took over from the late Swiss Gian Franco Kaspar last year.
He was the only candidate and was due to be elected by acclamation at the 53rd FIS Congress in Milan, Italy.
But some delegates asked for a secret vote, which was not allowed by the electoral officers.
Still unhappy, Croatian delegate Vedran Pavlek led a small walkout.
Eliasch then received 100 percent of the votes of those remaining.
“We need change,” he told delegates.
The FIS runs alpine skiing, Nordic skiing and some other snow sports but there has been criticism of Eliasch’s radical reform efforts and a lack of communication. (dpa/NAN)
