The aspiration of former Governor of Anambra state, Mr. Peter Obi to become the next President of Nigeria has received an unprecedented boost as millions of volunteers marched across the country in solidarity with his Presidential ambition.
Prompt News reports that no fewer than a coalition of 19 groups under different names were involved in the much-awaited
‘One Million Man March For Peter Obi’ which kicked off nationwide Saturday, May 21, 2022.
Field reports backed by video evidences showed that millons of volunteers poured into the streets of Nigeria in solidarity with Mr Peter Obi, a strong presidential aspirant under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
A statement made available to the media on Saturday by the Chairman of the Coalition for Peter Obi (CPO), Dr. Marcel Ngogbehei,
stated that Saturday’s march was among series of activities drawn up by the CPO to be carried out by the volunteers aimed at forcing the powers that be to do the right thing for once by making sure that the right man for the job is given the opportunity to wright the wrongs of yester-years and give Nigerians a lease of life for the first time in the history of country.
Below is the full statement by CPO Chairman:
“Good Day Ladies and Gentlemen, Today 21st May 2022, Nigerians across the 36 States of the Federation and (FCT) are united in the 1million-Man March calling on the PDP leadership and delegates to help the future of our children and our country by giving Nigerians someone who we believe possesses the requisite capability to restore Nigeria to the path of greatness. Its a call to bring Nigeria into a new era of global recognition and respect. Nigerians are marching to request PDP delegates to give us H.E Peter Obi”.
“The Coalition for Peter Obi (CPO) is a collection of all Peter Obi Support groups in Nigeria and Diaspora who for the love of our Fatherland has came together to raise funds estimated at approximately N5m”.
“This funds were transparently donated and expensed to support the logistics for the 1million-Man March”.
“The 1million-Man March will be streamed live, and we shall link up with every state coordinator to capture activities from their various locations. Please send us videos and pictures of activities in your locations to your regional Coordinators”.
