Nigerian military authorities Wednesday announced that troops have taken full control of three towns recently captured by Boko Haram insurgents.
According to Defence headquarters, the towns recaptured by the troops in Adamawa State include Gombi, Pelia and Hong.
The DHQ had tweeted,”Our Troops are in full control of Gombi, Pelia and Hong as operations to clear all areas infested by terrorists continue.”
“Many terrorists are being captured as some die. Weapons and Equipment are also being recovered. Mopping up Ongoing in the area even #NOW”
During the counter insurgency, many insurgents were said to have been killed and others captured. In the same vein, arms and ammunition as well as equipment have been recovered from the terrorists.
The Boko Haram insurgents have been intensifying attacks in the three frontline states of Adamawa, Borno and Yobe, capturing towns and villages.
Their biggest achievement so far has been the capture of Mubi, the second largest town in Adamawa State.
The sect is controlling no fewer than 16 local government areas at present.
