Nigeria’s Super Eagles have been drawn in a weak Group A alongside two West Africans – Sierra Leone and Guinea Bissau as well as either Sao Tome and Principe or Mauritius in the qualifying round of the TotalEnergie Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) billed for Cote d’Ivoire next year.
Former Ivoiren football star Salomon Kalou who helped in the draw held on Tuesday evening in the Studios of South African digital television giants Super Sports, picked out Nigeria first from Pot 1 containing 12 top teams in Africa according to the recent FIFA World Rankings.
It is expected that Nigeria will easily qualify from Group A without much sweat.
Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) Director of Competitions, Samson Adamu conducted the draw which also saw former South African captain Lukas Radabe helping in Kalou in drawing the lot.
