The insecurity, economic woes and other social vices that have bedevilled Nigeria in the recent time have been attributed to lack of fear of God by those in the position of authorities.
This is the stand of Evangelist Chukwuebuka Ejeckam of the Anglican Church Of The Resurrection, Duboyi (ACORD), Wuse Archdeaconry of Diocese of Abuja, who also said knowing the Prophet of God, Jesus Christ, the Saviour, will restore the country to the part of prosperity.
Evangelist Ejeckam who made these assertions on Sunday in Abuja in his Palm Sunday Sermon titled: “Who Is This?, argued that the fear of God is the foundation of national justice which will usher in peace in the land.
According to him, the ills of the society would not have been multiplying if the people had turned to God, adding that lack of knowledge of God has led evil to abound in the country.
Quoting from King James Bible, in the Book of Proverbs Chapter 14 verse 34 which states: “Righteousness exalt a nation: but Sin is a reproach to any people”, he insists that except a person knows the Saviour, Jesus Christ corruption will fester in the nation for some time.
Said he: “one need to know Jesus Christ in order to know the truth because getting to know Jesus Christ will lead one to eternity. Getting to know Him one is at peace and getting to know Jesus Christ one will not be corrupt”.
The Fire-brand Preacher however stated that knowing Jesus Christ will preclude man from perishing, just as it will be a gateway to Eternal Life.
He however admonished the faithful to use this period to reflect on their lives and to make a decision to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ especially they enter the Holy Week which started with the Palm Sunday.
He said on that Palm Sunday when Jesus Christ rode on an ass, with crowd following him as entered Jerusalem, the people asked ‘Who Is This Man’, pointing out that those who followed him since the ‘Triumphant Entry’ have not regretted their decisions to follow Jesus Christ.
“Those who follow Jesus Christ know the truth, they have peace, they dispense justice and above all, they are overcomers”, he concluded.
The highlight of the Palm Sunday celebration aside the Holy Communion administered by Venerable Oluwaseun Owoeye, Vicar of ACORD, was the procession of the congregation with palm fronds along the ever-busy Lokogoma – Galadima road by Sunnyvale Estate, Kabusa road, Abuja.
