The administrative and executive officers at Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology, OAUSTECH, Okiti-pupa, Ondo State, Nigeria have been challenged to buckle up and reposition themselves strategically for the task ahead and for optimum service delivery at all times.
OAUSTECH Registrar, Mr. Ganiyu Oke Saliu, gave the charge at an interactive session with the Registry staff at the University’s Main Campus along Igbokoda Road on Wednesday, 23rd March, 2022.
According to the Registrar, all members of staff should strive hard to improve their skills, as well as educational attainment and endeavor to discharge their duties in line with the international best practices.
“The university is a universal place and we have to maintain universal standards,” the head of the institution’s Registry enthused.
He advised members of staff at the meeting to always do their work conscientiously, dedicatedly, diligently and timely without breaking the rules, not wasting any of the University’s scarce resources.
Saliu further urged the staff to acquaint themselves with the University’s Laws, Registry Manual and other working documents for needed enlightenment and better performance.
He equally charged them to re-sharpen their reading, listening, speaking and writing skills, as well as ICT skill, which he stressed is an indispensable tool for a would-be successful career officer in the 21st century.
“Also, you must improve on you social skills. It is the ability to understand that we cannot all be the same and this will help you to be able to relate and work with people of diverse backgrounds and different temperament,” he remarked.
The Registrar, while urging the staff to key into the Vice-Chancellor’s developmental plans and agenda for the University, hinted them that the VC, Prof. Temi Emmanuel Ologunorisa, has recently constituted a high profile Strategic Plan Committee to give the needed direction to the University and its leadership in the next five years.
Saliu assured that there would be conversion based on merit for staff in due course, adding that there would be periodical in-house trainings for both the Registry and other staff of the University.
He disclosed that when funding improves the University would sponsor staff for conferences and external trainings.
