Again, the relative peace being enjoyed in Imo state for the past six weeks has been breached as
unknown gunmen on Saturday set ablaze the country home of an erudite scholar and prominent Igbo leader, Professor George Obiozor in Awo- Omama in Imo state.
Professor Obiozor is the current President General of the apex Igbo social cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, and former Nigeria’s Ambassador to the United States of America and Israel.
Professor Obiozor who hails from Omuma, Oru East local government of Imo State, the same community of Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, have not reacted to the unfortunate incident.
Prompt News reports that Governor Uzodinma’s country home was also set ablaze last year by unknown gunmen.
It is not yet clear those behind the arson at Professor Obiozor’s home and their motive just as it was reliably gather that Professor Obiozor is abroad right at the moment on medical vacation.
Meanwhile, the Imo State Command of the Nigeria Police is yet to make statement on the attack.
