The wait is over as Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, Anambra state Governor-elect has
received the baton of leadership from the out-going governor, Chief Willie Obiano although he has
another 24 hours before the official Oath-taking Ceremony billed for Awka, the state capital.
Prompt News reports that the outgoing governor, Obiano, on Wednesday, formally handed over official government documents to Soludo at the Government House, Awka.
Governor Obiano also conducted Soludo round important offices in Government House as he showed the in-coming Chief Executive of Anambra state places he should know.
The brief closed-door ceremony was witnessed by the out-going Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Professor Solo Chukwudebelu, and some personal aides of Soludo.
At the ceremony devoid of any fanfair, Governor Obiano handed over to Soludo official documents containing Assets and Liabilities of Anambra state, as well as on-going projects across the state.
Meanwhile, Professor Soludo, a former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) will be sworn in on Thursday, March 17, 2022 as the substantive Governor of Anambra State.
The ceremony is expected to be low key as only about 50 persons have officially been invited for the ceremony in line with Soludo’s wish that he would prefer a quiet oath taking ceremony devoid of the usual fanfare associated with such ceremony.
It is not yet clear whether Obiano will be at the Thursday’s swearing-in ceremony in Awka.
The in-coming Governor is expected to make his first key appointments after the Oath taking Ceremony.
It is also not clear if he would still drive to the slum city of Okpoko near Onitsha as earlier promised, although he said recently that he would start work in his office immediately after the ceremony.
