The Niger State House of Assembly on Thursday called on the Federal Government to carry out more recruitment into police force to mitigate the effects of dwindling manpower.
This was the resolutions of the house during a security meeting with service chiefs of various security agencies, the Secretary to the State Government and the Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Internal security.
The Speaker of the House, Mr Abdullahi Bawa, while reading the resolutions, called on the federal government to intensify efforts to recruit more manpower into the Nigeria Police.
He said the house also called for more support to vigilante group members, who were complementing the conventional security in the fight against terrorism.
Bawa called on government, parents and the society to encourage young people to go to school, attributing lack of education to increased cases of youth restiveness and insecurity in the country.(NAN)
