A presidential aspirant under the banner of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), c has declared that rotating the highest office in the land among the zones of the country is the surest way to equity and justice.
Speaking with journalists in Abuja on Tuesday, Ohuabunwa who is the convener of “the New Nigeria Group” pointed out that given the level of the country’s political development and religious differences, “we cannot have a wholesome nation if we do not involve all the zones in leadership”.
The presidential aspirant argued that just like it is done in the Civil service and other public offices, federal character should be applicable to the Office of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, “so that every part of the country will feel a sense of belonging”.
“It is important we zone the presidency; we all have to agree to Zone or not”, he added.
On why he is vying for the exalted Office of the president, Mazi Ohuabunwa, an entrepreneur, investor and chairman of many blue chip companies said if given the opportunity to occupy the No 1 position that he will run the country profitably as a company and ensure that the country returns to the path of prosperity and progress.
“I am coming to lay the foundation for proper unity of our nation, to create a level playing ground where every child born in every part of this country will have the same opportunity like the other child to achieve his potential the way it happens the United States of America.
“Our nation is divided because of injustice to virtually every section of the country at one time or the other by misguided leadership. We believe this country can be fully united and re-integrated by a leadership that allows justice, equity and fairplay to reign.
“Every child born in this country should have equal chance with every other child to achieve his or her full potentials without discrimination as to his state of birth, ethnicity or religion”, Ohuabunwa stated.
