The Police command in Niger says it has arrested 28 additional suspects for alleged involvement in youth restiveness in Limawa area of Bosso Local Government Area of the state.
This is contained in a statement by DSP Wasiu Abiodun, Public Relations Officer of the command in Minna on Wednesday.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) had earlier reported that two people were killed and 32 suspects arrested at Riwama during the youth restiveness.
“In a continuous onslaught against youth restiveness, thuggery and other acts of criminality in Minna metropolis, a joint task force comprising the Police, Military, DSS, NSCDC and vigilance group launched an aggressive raid on house to house search.
”On Jan. 25 at about at Unguwar-Biri community area of Bosso Local Government Area of the state, the joint task force arrested 28 additional suspects.
He added that dangerous weapons were recovered from the suspects.
“We have recovered 10 arrows, seven cutlasses, eight knives, nine sticks, five shisha pipes, one wood cutter, one axe, one iron rod and 13 cellphones.
Also recovered were assorted charms, cloths, four nylon bags of Indian -hemp and slippers.
The police spokesman said that the operation would continue to fish out all the undesirable elements and street urchins, until the metropolis is totally rid of criminals.
He, however, said that all suspects are under investigation and would be arraigned in court for prosecution as soon as investigation is concluded.(NAN)
