Kelechi Iheanacho was named man of the match following Nigeria’s 1-0 win against Egypt at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.
Iheanacho netted the winning goal for the Super Eagles on the half hour mark.
“It’s a massive win for us. We prepared and worked so hard for this game and we are happy with result. This is surely a good start for us and i hope it will help us in subsequent games,” Iheanacho said after the game.
“We were not scared of the Egyptians. We studied them very well and it showed in our performance. This is a good start for us and Nigerians can be sure we will do our best in this competition.”
The Super Eagles will face Sudan in their next game in the competition at the Roumde Adija Stadium, Garoua on Saturday.
