After several years of inactivity, no thanks to the dilapidated state of the mainbowl pitch, the Super Eagles have returned to the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja as 14 players trained Monday evening on the turf ahead of the team’s trip to Cameroon for the 33rd African Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The training lasted for few hours as only 14 out of 28 invited for the 2021 AFCON have reported to camp in Abuja with Captain Ahmed Musa and goalkeeper Maduka Okoye the latest in camp as at Monday evening.
Prompt News reports that only 12 were in camp on Sunday night. They are Zaidu Sanusi from FC Porto, Portugal who joined, Moses Simon (FC Nantes, France), Francis Uzoho (AC Omonia, Cyprus), Henry Onyekuru (Olympiacos, Greece) and Peter Olayinka (Slavia Praha, Czech Republic).
Others are Chidozie Awaziem (Alayanspor, Turkey), Chidera Ejuke (CSKA Moscow, Russia), Daniel Akpeyi (Kaizer Chiefs, South Africa), Sadiq Umar (UD Almeria, Spain), Olisa Ndah (Orlando Pirates, South Africa), John Noble (Enyimba FC) and Taiwo Awoniyi (Union Berlin, Germany).
According to Camp Commandant, Patrick Pascal
many of the invited players are being expected on Tuesday as they would have been done with club duties.
