Emmanuel Dennis has claimed his Premier League club Watford “threatened” him over his participation at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
Dennis was on Friday dropped from Nigeria’s AFCON squad by interim manager Austine Eguavoen after Watford hung on to a technicality on the player’s invitation.
Eguavoen revealed that Dennis told him the Hornets threatened so that he will not feature at the AFCON in Cameroon.
“The club said they won’t allow Dennis to go (to the AFCON),” Eguavoen told NFF TV.
“Dennis also told me that his club are doing everything humanly possible for him not to be at the AFCON.
I can’t force it.
“Dennis said he wants to come, but his club are threatening him.
“We have to play with what we have,” Eguavoen said
