An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court on Friday ordered that six men be remanded in Kirikiri Correctional Centre for allegedly robbing and killing five people in Ikorodu.
The police charged Lawal Kayode, 35; Sadiq Ogedengbe, 19; Kazeem Salau, 23; Abiodun Bamidele, 26; Dare Balogun, 27 and Yusuf Raji, 28 with 13 counts conspiracy, robbery, murder, unlawful assembly, reach of peace, unlawful possession of firearms and unlawful display of weapons.
Magistrate, Mrs K.A. Ariyo, who did not take the plea of the suspects ordered the police to return the case file to the Director of Public Prosecution, (DPP) for legal advice.
Magistrate Ariyo adjourned the case until Jan. 14 for mention.
Earlier, the Police Prosecutor, Insp Christopher John, alleged the suspects robbed residents of Mojoda, Agbowa, Isiwu and Imota in Ikorodu Community and killed five persons.
John told the court that the suspects committed the offence with others who are at large on Sept.3 in Ikorodu.
He submitted that the suspects killed Wasiu Oluwasesan, Mathew Adejokun, Hammed Muasudeen, Hopewell Augustine and Adeola Akinyemi during the robbery operation.
The prosecutor said the suspects belonged to the Aiye and Eiye Confraternity.
He said they had in their possession two locally made cut to size gun, two fabricated barreta gun, one locally made gun, only locally made single barrel long gun, one Dane gun, five unexpended cartridges and two expended cartridges without lawful authority.
John said the offence contravened the provisions of sections 2(a)(b)(c)(d)(e), 44(1), 51, 222(1)(a)(b), 223, 296, 298(3), 299 and 411 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015. (NAN)
