Global leaders and stakeholders in the transportation and trade industry would next week Monday deliberate on the role of transportation in the implementation of the African Continental free trade Area (AfCFTA).
The forum is an international conference being organized by the Nigeria Institute of Transport Technology, (NITT) Zaria in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Transportation, Abuja.
With the theme “towards Developing Nigeria into a more competitive and integrated regional transport hub in the African continent” the event according to Dr Ismaila Danjuma, NITT Director of Training/Conference Coordinator would attract local and international leaders, captains of industry and users of the transportation service in Nigeria and west Africa.
The conference will be declared open by Rt Hon Rotimi Amaechi, Hon Minister of Transportation with Mallam Nasir El’Rufai, Executive Governor of Kaduna State,
Other dignitaries/speakers include, Otunba Adeniyi Adebayo, Hon Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Senator Gbemisola Saraki, Hon Minister of State for Transportation and Senator Hadi Sirika, Hon. Minister of Aviation. Other speakers include: Mr Jan Hoffman, Head, Trade Logistics, UNCTAD, Geneva, Barr Hassan Bello, Former Executive Secretary, Nigeria Shippers Council, Wamkele Mene, Secretary-General, AfCFTA, Ghana, Dr George Muoghalu, MD/CEO, Nigeria Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) and . Emmanuel Jime, Executive Secretary, Nigeria Shippers Council.

The Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology (NITT) was established in the year 1986 by Decree No 6 of March 14 (now CAP 116 of the Federal Laws of Nigeria). The Institute was established as a Transport Management Development and Research Institute for Nigeria and the West African Sub-region.
It provides training to personnel employed in all modes of transport leading to the award of certificates, Diploma, Advanced Diploma, Postgraduate Diploma and Masters in Transport and Logistics.
The organization is in the fore front of providing Transport and Logistics Education, Training, Research and Consultancy Services. In its over Thirty (30) years of existence, the institute has contributed significantly to the professionalization of the transport and logistics industry not only in Nigerian but also in the West African Sub region.
