The 2021 Anambra State Governorship Election may have officially ended at exactly 4pm on Tuesday as polls have closed in the 343 Polling Units in Ihiala Local Government Area (LGA) used for the Supplementary Election ordered by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Although the whole of Ihiala LGA witnessed massive deployment of federal security agents made up of Police, Army and Civil Defence Corps, voters still came out in their numbers to cast their votes without let or hindrance.
Prompt News reports that at many Registration Area Councils (RAC) where Polling Units were domiciled, larger turn of voters were observed. The areas where people came out in their numbers to vote are Uli, Akwa, Amorka and Okija.
Another area that witnessed increase number of voters was Mbosi where the Deputy Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Paschal Agbodike hails from. Many voters defyed
security challenges to troop out to vote.
At Mbosi, voters had gathered early at the St. Augustine’s College Mbosi, where both accreditation and voting took place, many people came to exercise their civic duties.
However, it was observed that in order to beat security challenges, all the 14 Polling Units in Mbosi Ward were gathered at the same location.
Meanwhile, the three frontrunners in the race for the Anambra State Government House will now have to wait untill the end of collation of Ihiala results late Tuesday or early Wednesday.
The trio are: Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA); Valentine Ozigbo of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and Senator Andy Ubah of All Progressives Congress (APC)
