The Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) has appointed two University of Ilorin (Unilorin) Professors into its National Research Fund (NRF) Screening and Monitoring Committee.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that (TETFund) is a leading educational intervention agency of the Federal Government.
According to the Unilorin Bulletin issued on Tuesday, the dons include Prof. Yinusa Adediran, the immediate past Director of COMSIT, and Prof. Yahaya Imam, the former Head, Humanity Clustre, Centre for Research, Development and In-House Training.
It also stated that a letter signed by the Executive Secretary of the Fund, Prof. Suleiman Bogoro, said the committee consists of 75 members, with Prof. Musa Abubakar of the Federal University, Dutse, Jigawa, as Chairman.
“Bogoro explained that the Committee, which has two years as its lifespan, is expected to examine pre-qualified applications for research grants from academic in beneficiary institutions.
“This is to ensure that they are in compliance with approved templates for accessing TETFund NRF Grant; categorise pre-qualified research into streams and disciplines to ease the appointment of assessors/reviewers,” it said.
The institution explained further that they will recommend pre-qualified and categorised proposals.
It said: “Members of the Committee are also expected to serve on the NRF proposal panel and carry out other responsibilities that may be assigned to them from time to time by the Fund.” (NAN)
