In continuation of its efforts to deliver a seamless African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in 2022, the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) has held another workshop for all Stadiums and Training Sites Safety and Security Officers that will be operational during the competition billed for Cameroon.
Speaking on the latest workshop, CAF Head of Safety and Security Department, Dr. Christian Emeruwa said it was part of the pre-tournament exercise to ensure those that will be assigned to each of the stadiums to be used for the AFCON as well as each of the training sites that will be used for the competition in 2022.
Emeruwa however thanked colleagues from FIFA Security, CAF Medical, CAF Commercial Division, United Nations Office for Counter Terrorism
(UNOCT) ably represented by Mr. Valerio De Divitis
and LOC Security Commission who were part of the workshop, saying that the gathering was a fruitful exercise.
Said he: ” Thanks also to all the appointed officers who will be responsible for managing the stadiums and all the training sites at all the venues”.
“It was a very fruitful engagement, one that has given us the opportunity to explain their roles and their responsibilities and the expectations of CAF and the importance of their roles again. And to emphasise the importance of their roles to the overall delivery to the safety and security operations for the AFCON”.
“By and large this is another great milestone that has been achieved as we continue to prepare for the AFCON, taking the safety and security concerns as a very serious aspect that we need to make sure it is properly coordinated”.
