he Nasarawa State Chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC) has inaugurated 147 wards chairmen and other officials following their victory at the July 31 ward congresses.
The inauguration which took place on Tuesday in Lafia, had in attendance Governor Abdullahi Sule and his Deputy, Emmanuel Akabe, Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Ibrahim Balarabe-Abdullahi and others stakeholders of the party in the state.
Speaking at the inauguration, Mr John Mamman, the APC State Caretaker Commitee Chairman said that the officials emerged through consensus due to the high level of unity amongst party members in the state.
The caretaker chairman explained that the exercise was in compliance with the directive by the National Caretaker Committee that all states’ caretaker committees should inaugurate all elected wards officials of the party.
He commended the party stakeholders in the state for their cooperation and support which had made the congresses possible through consensus.
Mamman also attributed the feat to the exemplary leadership style of Governor Sule as well as members of the National Assembly from the state.
“The wards officials are products of unity, togetherness and sense of direction which the party is known for since formation.
“Therefore, I charge all of you to be exemplary and inclusive in your respective electoral wards for the overall progress of the party so as to ensure its victory in all future elections,” he said.
Mamman maintained that APC was the most popular political party in the country and Africa consisting of members whose sense of patriotism was not in doubt.
Also speaking at the inauguration, Governor Sule congratulated all the wards officials in the state for their well deserved election.
Sule said the peaceful atmosphere the party was enjoying after its congresses was a clear testimony and sign of victory for the party in the state and the country.
He added that the party had performed creditably in providing dividends of democracy to the people and had no doubt that it would win all seats in the Oct 6 local government elections in the state.
“We are not interested in rigging the forthcoming local government elections in the state, we will win by popular votes because the people are with us given our performance in the last two years,” the governor added.
Sule expressed optimism that APC would emerge victorious in the state and the country in the 2023 general elections and beyond.(NAN)
