An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday ordered that a businessman, Samuel Asiama, 42, be remanded for allegedly defiling a nine-year-old girl.
The police charged Asiama, who resides in Isale-Oja, Agege, Lagos State with defilement.
Magistrate A.O Layinka, who did not take Asiama’s plea, ordered that he should be remanded in Kirikri Correctional Centre.
Layinka directed the police to send the case file to the state Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for legal advice.
She adjourned the case until Dec. 1 for DPP legal advice.
The Prosecution Counsel, Insp Lucky Ihiehie told the court that Asiama, committed the offence on Aug. 14 at his residence.
He said that Asiama called the girl into his room and defiled her.
The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
