The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), has assured Kaduna residents and the Zazzau Emirate of adequate security during the Sept. 4 Local Government election in the state.
The State Commandant, Godwin Miebi, gave the assurance during a courtesy visit on the Emir of Zazzau, His Highness, Ahmad Nuhu Bamali, in Zaria, Kaduna state on Thursday, a statement issued by the Command Public Relations Officer, DSC Orndiir Terzungwe, said.
Miebi said that the NSCDC was ready to provide watertight security before, during and after the council polls.
The commandant acknowledged significant security roles played by the traditional institution in general, and the Zazzau Emirate in particular.
He said that the command appreciated every support from the royal institution.
“Security agencies alone can hardly succeed without the support of members of the traditional institution.
“It is in recognition of this fact that I have come to seek the usual support of His Highness and members of your council,” Miebi said.
“We are contributing our quota in synergy with other sister agencies to ensure that the challenge of insecurity bedeviling the state is drastically reduced,” he added.
Responding, the Emir said he was pleased with the performance of the corps, most especially in his domain, despite challenges of inadequate manpower and equipment.
The royal father, however, said the rising incidence of banditry was worrisome.
He said that the country was passing through a difficult period, but expressed optimism that, with concerted efforts of all stakeholders, it would be overcome.
The Emir stressed the need for synergy and collaboration among security agencies and warned against rivalry. (NAN)
