In a bid to achieve its mandate and become a global institution, the Nigerian Army Resource Centre (NARC) has formalised its partnership with Kings College, London, with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
The spokesperson for NARC, Maj. Felicia Daniel, said in a statement on Monday, that the MoU was signed in Abuja on Aug. 11, with the aim of strengthening their existing collaboration.
The Director-General, NARC, retired Maj.-Gen. Garba Wahab, commended the Kings College team for solidifying the long-term relationship that had existed between the two institutions through the MoU.
Wahab said that NARC had lived up to expectations as one of the foremost research institutions in the country, that had collaborated with other reputable institutions across the globe.
He assured the team that the centre would do its best in actualising the terms of the MoU and urged the team to ensure that the college fulfilled its part.
According to him, NARC has had successful collaborations with reputable institutions, both internationally and locally.
“One of such, is the Harvard Kennedy Leadership School, USA, that focuses its training on leadership and entrepreneurship skills and the United Services Institute India, (USI) that focuses on research and methodology, amongst other global institutions.
“The centre also has collaborations with local institutions such as, the University of Lagos, University of Ibadan, and University of Abuja, focusing on academics and exchange of programmes.
“Also included is Laclic Services Limited, that is aimed at enhancing language proficiency amongst personnel of the Nigerian army,” he said.
Responding, the leader of Kings College team, Prof. Balogun Alao, said that the MoU would provide interested qualified persons an opportunity to study at the prestigious Kings College, London, through the excellent facilities provided by NARC in Abuja.
Alao also said that the two institutions would collaborate in areas like Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and Advanced Training Programmes, Research and Leadership Development Programmes, among others.
He added that the college was determined to ensure that the collaboration was properly implemented because of the credibility of the institution and its commitment. (NAN)
