The Federal Capital Territory Football Association Chairman, Adam Mouktar Mohammed has charged FCT Coaches Association to channel its energy toward the growth and development of football in the FCT from the grassroot
He said there is need for Coaches to storm the area councils on the need to encourage coaches as well as discover and nurture of talents at the grassroots.
Mouktar who has sponsored over 36 coaches since he was elected gave the charge when the new executive team of the FCT Football Coaches Association, paid him a courtesy call on Saturday in Abuja.
According to him, “I like the grassroots and I expected you to work for development and growth of football. I am in football for service, and I always saying if you are not willing to make yourself uncomfortable invest your money in football you shouldn’t be in football and that is what we have not gotten in this country that is willing to sacrifice.
“Football revolve around the coaches, whatever will do or whoever we become the football game is centered around the coaches, because you are the one that recruit, select and mentor players, no matter what they become in life, they are your ward so at the end of the day football is around the coaches why i said so is because everybody you organized the game and ensure that the game is play.”
He called on FCT coaches to invent a style for Nigeria “As long as we don’t have style, we don’t have an identity, each country has their styles, but Nigeria doesn’t have, there is a need to get the style for our country which I believe should start from FCT.
“Let say this Nigeria is unable to conquered the world because coaches have not been given relevant supports. So, if the coaches are not properly motivated, properly paid, trained and updated it’s very difficult to be where we need to be.”
He equally charged them to run an inclusive government, if you want to record much success, your success will be measured by the number of coaches you trained”
Recently, Mouktar -led FCT FA sponsored no fewer than 16 coaches drawn across the area councils at the ongoing Basic Certificate in Coaching training at the National Institute of Sports (NIS) Abuja.
Earlier, FCT Coaches Association Chairman Bartholomew David thanked the FCT FA Chairman for the support and encouragement that the body has continued to enjoy from the Association, thereby pledged to continue working with chairman.
