The Ifo Unit Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun, has warned motorists to desist from driving under the influence of alcohol to stem road crashes during the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
Mr Joseph Akinsanya, the Ifo Unit Commander of the FRSC, gave the warning in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday, in Ota, Ogun.
NAN reports that Muslim faithful will be celebrating Eid-el-Kabir nationwide, on July 20.
Akinsanya enjoined motorists to be cautious and shun reckless driving and over-speeding as only the living can celebrate.
“They should exercise patience and refrain from drinking while driving to avoid unnecessary loss of lives.
“The FRSC is committed to ensure that motorists get to their various destinations safety without any threat to life,” he said.
The unit Commander said that the FRSC would be deployed across Ifo and its environs to check excesses of motorists and ensure sanity on the road during the celebration.
He urged motorists to adhere strictly to traffic regulations and cooperate with FRSC personnel and those of other sister agencies to ensure safety of lives and property. (NAN)
