Osogbo Book Club (OBC) has set aside 24th day of July, 2021 to host three Osogbo-based writers, Ayooluwa Olasupo (Imisi), Babatude Adekunle and Fadairo Tesleem, in Osogbo, the capital of Osun State.
A statement issued by both the Coordinator and Secretary of the club, Grace Godwin and Afeez Olagunju said the event would take place at the T.M. Aluko House (ANA Osun State Secretariat) Unique Success Academy Annex, Behind WAEC Office, 2 Uncle K Street, Akinlade, Alekuwodo, Osogbo by 12PM prompt.
Ayooluwa Olasupo (Imisi) is a Nigerian poet/writer and medical doctor who writes from Osogbo, Osun State. Her works have appeared in Christian Literary Hub’s Anthology, Afritondo, The Shallow Tales Review Literary Magazine, Eboquills, Shuzia and elsewhere.
She’s the Editor-in-chief of Scent and Sceptre Teen Magazine and also the curator/founder of Star and Nectar Literary Magazine; a content creator who has been a co-editor to a number of magazines and other publications, she was top 6 in the Pregnant Poems contest 2020 and was nominated on two consecutive occasions as a contributory writer to the Nigerian Medical Students Association. Her writing often conveys message of hope, courage and healing.
When she’s not writing, reading or attending to her medical passion, she enjoys listening to and making music, speaking, cooking and telling children in the neighbourhood twilight tales.
The second writer, Babatunde Abdulhakim Adekunle is a student of University of Ibadan. He is studying Education and English. Abdulhakim is a content creator, Motivational writer and poet. He writes for different blogs among which is Cornelius blog and international Writers among others. He belongs to different writers’ organizations and has received different certificates on creative writing within and outside Nigeria.
The third writer, Fadairo Tesleem, also known by his social media handles as Tasleem Abu Haneefa. He is a Poet, critic and an Admin of a popular poetry group on whatsapp. Tasleem Abu Haneefa has published in different online journals and literary magazines. He is currently a student of University of Ilorin where he organizes poetry readings every Wednesdays.
The forthcoming book reading event promises to be an avenue of book and poetry reading, Spoken words, book sales and signing, networking with fellow book readers and writers across the nooks and crannies of Osun State, the statement added.
Upcoming writers who have works in poetry, short stories and novels can also attend to read their works to fellow writers and readers. Membership forms and Certificate of Membership will be made available free of charge to the first timers.
Osogbo Book Club is an initiative of Society of Young Nigerian Writers. It was established by the Society in order to contribute its own quota towards the growth and development of Reading Culture in Osun State. Osogbo Book Club consists of group of people who get together, periodically meet to discuss the book they have read, and to exchange such books. The members of the club encourage each other, and learn to read with a critical awareness, articulating their opinions on a particular book with the others. Certain types of books not available or read receive attention through the book club.
