EFCC Football Club of Abuja will face Triple J in the semi-finals of the Aiteo Cup competition in the FCT.
They qualified after a hard-fought 1-0 win against Family Worship Centre (FWC) FC in their quarter-final fixture at the Area 3 pitch in Abuja on Thursday.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the competition which began on Wednesday and will end on Monday is holding at both the Area 3 and Wuye football pitches in Abuja.
EFCC FC took control of the game and pressed for an early opener.
But it was a game which saw both teams creating many goalscoring chances but failing to convert any into goal.
A breakthrough finally came in the 77th minute when Ephraim Musa scored the game’s lone goal.
FWC FC was struggled thereafter to draw level, but they could not score as EFCC FC continued to dominate the game till the end.
Speaking after the match, the coach of EFCC FC, Kabiru Adeyemi, said his team’s win was a deserved victory.
“But we will go back to our drawing board and correct our mistakes and work harder to see that we reach the next stage,’’ he added.
NAN reports that the first quarter-final match played in the competition had seen Basic Maracana losing 5-6 on penalty kicks to Tripple J after a 0-0 draw.(NAN)
