In line with the requirement of the law, the Police Council meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari, on Friday confirmed Mr. Usman Alkali Baba as Inspector General of Police (IGP) of Nigeria.
Minister of Police Affairs, Alhaji Maigari Dingyadi who confirmed this information at the end of the one and half hours meeting, said Baba was unanimously confirmed.
Prompt News reports President Buhari had on April 6, appointed Usman Baba as Acting Inspector General of Police.
Meanwhile, the Minister revealed that President Buhari directed Baba to ensure insecurity in Nigeria is brought to the barest minimum.
Recall the new IGP Baba was a Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police before his promotion to the present position.
