President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed grief at the passing of his longtime ally, friend, political loyalist and former Minister of Information and Culture, Prince Tony Momoh.
Reacting to the passage, President Buhari said Prince Momoh stood with him through thick and thin, adding: “His brand of loyalty is very rare in the politics of today. I will greatly miss him.”
The President recalled that as chairman, Media and Publicity of the All Nigeria People’s Party (ANPP) Campaign Organisation in the 2003 and 2007 elections as well as Chairman of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), the late Auchi Prince contributed in no small measure to the growth and strengthening of the organizations, leading to the eventual formation of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
President Buhari commiserated with the media industry on the loss of a veteran who put in a lot to raise the bar of the profession in various ways as editor, manager, administrator, President and Trustee of the Guild of Editors, urging them to sustain his legacies.
On his part, the President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, shares the grief of the family, friends and politial associates of a former Minister of Information, Prince Tony Momoh, over his death on Monday.
Lawan commiserates with the government and people of Edo State and the All Progressives Congress(APC), where he was a highly respected leader, on the loss.
“Prince Tony Momoh as a journalist made indelible contributions to the development of the noble profession in Nigeria.
The Senate President prays for divine comfort for his loved ones and the fortitude to bear his loss.
Also, former Lagos State governor, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has expressed shock over the death of Prince Tony Momoh.
He described the late Momoh as a statesman, patriot and exemplary journalist.
In a condolence message on Monday night by his Media Office, Asiwaju Tinubu said: “I’m deeply saddened by the passing of Chief Tony Momoh.
“His death is a great loss at this time his wise counsel is needed in the country.
My condolences to his family. I pray that God give them the strength to overcome this loss. I commiserate with the Newspaper Proprietors Association of Nigeria, the Guild of Editors and indeed with the Media Confraternity.

Minister of State for Budget and National Planning, Prince Clem Ikanade Agba has reacted to the demise of former Minister of Information, Prince Tony Momoh, saying Nigeria has lost a brilliant mind and statesman who lived a spartan life.
Agba said the late Momoh, apart from being a great son of Afenmailand in the North Senatorial zone of Edo State, was a committed Nigerian patriot who continuously and relentlessly defended the unity and fought for the wellbeing of Nigeria.
According to a statement issued by his Special Assistant (Media), Sufuyan Ojeifo, the minister said: “As a journalist, he was exemplary. He was penetrating and profoundly logical in his writings.
“I commiserate with the government and people of Edo State and the Federal Government of Nigeria on the passing away of a Nigerian patriot.
“I commiserate with his family members and I pray that the Almighty God would grant them the fortitude to bear the monumental loss.”
