Plateau United Football Club of Jos on Friday defeated Nasarawa United FC of Lafia 1-0 in a Match Day 7 fixture of the 2020/2021 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
In the match played at the New Jos International Stadium, Mohammed Zikifilu scored the only goal of the encounter.
Speaking after the match, Abdu Maikaba, the chief coach of Plateau United, commended his team for winning the match.
Maikaba, who acknowledged that Nasarawa United are a strong side, expressed happiness at the outcome of the match.
“From the beginning we knew it was not going to be easy winning the match, but we were determined.
“I am excited with the performance of my boys and urge them to keep up the tempo,” he said.
Maikaba assured fans of the club of victory in their next match against Warri Wolves on Wednesday.
On his part, Bala Nikyu, the chief coach of Nasarawa United, went philosophical by saying losing is part of football, adding that his team would sit up to win their next match.
He further assured supporters of the team that his boys would work hard to maintain their position on the league table.(NAN)
