A philanthropist, Sen. Abubakar Sadiq-Yar’adua, has donated an Orphanage and School in Kaita Local Government Area of Katsina State to enhance the well being of orphans.
News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the structures were handed over to the Jama’atu Izaltil Bid’ah Wa’qamatis Sunnah (JIBWIS).
Sadiq-Yar’adua said that the orphanage was expected to accommodate over 300 orphans.
He said that the home consisted of a school, clinic, Computer and Skills Acquisition Centre, where they would be trained on various skills to make them self-reliant.
He said that he would complement government’s efforts of enhancing the living condition of orphans in the society and urged JIBWIS to ensure proper utilisation of the facility.
In his remarks, the JIBWIS National Chairman, Sheikh Abdullahi Bala-Lau, commended the philanthropist for the gesture and called on the State Government to take the responsibility of paying the salaries of the school’s teachers.
Bala-Lau noted that JIBWIS had established a committee responsible for enhancing orphans’ welfare in all the states of the federation.
He appealed to leaders to do justice to the people, and the followers to continue to pray to Allah to guide the leaders’ right.
The chairman also called on the governments to establish more skills acquisition centres as part of measures to address unemployment.
He advised parents to intensify efforts toward ensuring proper upbringing of their children.
Also speaking, Gov. Aminu Masari, observed that ignorance and neglecting some category of people were responsible for the current problem bedeviling the Northwest zone of the country.
He urged people to contribute to the development of education because of its role in nation building.
Masari commended the philanthropist for his efforts and urged other wealthy individuals to emulate Sadiq-Yar’adua as government alone could not do it all. (NAN)
