The Nasarawa State House of Assembly, on Wednesday, declared total support for policies and programmes of governor Abdullahi Sule’s administration geared towards youths employment, empowerment and engagement to improve the welfare of youths in the state.
Chairman House Committee on Youth and Sports, Hon. Salihu Musa Iyimoga (ZLP-Doma North) reiterated this when the Ministry for Youth & Sports Development appeared before the committee to defend its 2021 budget proposal at the assembly complex in Lafia, the state Capital.
Iyimoga, who described youths as the bedrock of the society, commended the youths in Nasarawa state for their conducts during the #EndSARS protest.
“Our youths have talents and focus. We all witnessed their conducts during the recent EndSARS protest across states of the federation . We must commend them and stand for them.
He thanked governor Sule for initiating various youth programmes, aimed at tackling youths restiveness in the state as he appealed that more should be done in that regard.
“I urge you to come up with more viable activities that will engage them, improve on the standard of living of our youths so as to pull them off the streets.
On his part, the Commissioner for youth and sports Development, Hon Othman Bala Adam thanked the committee for supporting his activities and called for its sustenance.
He appealed for more funds to cater for the various sporting activities in which the ministry intend to embark upon.
Also speaking, the Director General, Nasarawa State Youths Empowerment Scheme (NAYES) Abdulahi Labaran Maina led his members before the committee to defend its 2021 budget proposal
