The Indonesian government has spent nearly 45 million U.S. dollars purchasing vaccines in 2020 , a minister said on Monday.
The funds were used to buy three million doses of the Sinovac vaccine and 100,000 doses of the Cansino vaccine, both from China; Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati told a briefing.
In the first phase, 1.2 million doses of the Sinovac vaccine arrived in Indonesia on Monday and would be used in early 2021.
“As for the next phase, 1.8 million doses of the Sinovac vaccine will be delivered in January 2021,’’ she said.
Indonesia has also spent about 19.6 million dollars purchasing supporting tools for vaccination, such as syringes, alcohol swabs, and safety boxes.
Additionally, Indonesia has spent about 13.4 million dollars purchasing vaccine storage facilities, including refrigerators, cold boxes, temperature monitoring devices, vaccine carriers, and personal protective equipment.
This vaccination program involves 10,134 community health centers, 2,877 hospitals, and 49 port health offices. (Xinhua/NAN)
