The ranks of Nigeria-American basketball players have increased as no fewer than eight players with Nigerian background made the 2020 National Basketball Association (NBA) Draft.
Amongst the Nigerian picks in the 2020 NBA Draft are Isaac Okoro who was the 5th Pick for Cleveland Cavaliers and Onyeka Okongwu 6th Pick for Atlanta Hawks.
Others are Precious Achiuwa- Miami Heats (20th); Zeke Nnaji- Denver Nuggets (22nd); Udoka Azubuike-Utah Jazz (27th); Desmond Bane- Boston Celtics traded to Memphis; Daniel Oturu- Minnesota traded to Knicks/Flippers (33rd) and Jordan Nwora- Milwaukee Bucks (45th).
These players are coming on the heels of prominent NBA players with Nigerian background like legendary Hakeem Olajuwon, Josh Okojie, Andre Igodala, Olumide Oyedeji, Kelenna Azubuike, Giannis Antetokounmpo and Al-Farouq Aminu among others.
