Nasarawa state government, on Monday, said it would construct a state-of-the-art secretariat complex tagged ‘Legacy Project’ in Lafia, the state capital.
The estimated cost of the state secretariat complex project is fourteen billion, seven hundred and nine million, four hundred seventy eight thousand, two hundred and fifty naira and thirty one Kobo. N14,709, 478,250.34.
State commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Mr Dogo Shammah disclosed this to newsmen shortly after the state executive council meeting held at the government house in Lafia.
The complex which is sited close to the state High Court and Assembly complexes, along Shandam road is meant to bring all government offices to one facility.
“The council therefore noted that the state has come a long way and deserves a befitting state-of-the-art complex which will showcase its image as viable, vibrant and resourced state, given its strategic location at the North Central Geo-Political Zone and it’s proximity to the Federal Capital.
“The state secretariat when completed will have the sole purpose of conducting government businesses and shall served as a one stop shop for the public to interact with the operatives of bureaucratic affairs thereby, facilitating the ease of doing business”
“Accordingly, a land measuring 180.88 hecters located along Shandam road Lafia, has been identified for the legacy project,” he added.
In his remark, the state Commissioner for Finance, Haruna Adamu Ogbole said the new project has been captured in 2021 budget, which will be presented to the state assembly for approval.
“The state will present this to house of assembly on 17th of this month so that all miniseries and agencies will go for the defense so that hopefully by December, January, Nasarawa state will have its own budget for 2021.
