As results trickle in from polling units, there is palpable tension in the camps of the three major candidates in Saturday’s governorship election in Ondo state.
The three major contenders in the election that has been largely adjudged peaceful include the incumbent and candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Governor Rotimi Akeredolu.
Others are: the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Eyitayo Jegede and the incumbent deputy governor, Mr. Agboola Ajayi of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP).
Meanwhile, results pasted Saturday afternoon by INEC officials show that all the three candidates won their individual polling units.
Governor Akeredolu won the election in his Polling Unit 6, Isokun, Ijebu Owo, polling a total of 413 votes ahead of Jegede and Ajayi, who polled 12 and zero votes respectively.
The PDP candidate, Eyitayo Jegede also won in his Igbogin/Isikan Ward 2, unit 9, scoring 220 votes to defeat Akeredolu who scored 60 and Ajayi who scored seven (7) votes.
Agboola Ajayi of the ZLP, polled 395 votes in his Apoi Ward II, Unit 004, Idumado Quarters, Kiribo, ahead of Akeredolu and Jegede.
Prompt News gathered that all the results from the local governments may get to the State Collation centre in Akure, by Sunday afternoon.
But, according to INEC, results from 2,518 polling units out of the 3,009 units in 18 Local Governments across the state were uploaded on the “The INEC Result Viewing (IReV) portal’’ as at 7.50 p.m. on Saturday.
