Apparently getting fed up with the embarrassment the protesting Lagos State University (LASU) students are giving the government of Governor Babatunde Fashola, police Tuesday fired teargas to disperse the students from the Governor’s Office in Alausa.
Sequel to what the students considered as astronomic increase in their tuition fees, they have vowed to protest it and never to back down unless government reverts to the initial fees.
Consequently, to press home their demand for reversal to the status quo, the students have been protesting at the Governor’s Office.
Despite the unfriendly action of the police, the Students’ Union of the institution has vowed to sustain the protest by regrouping soon.
Governor Fashola had said that he would not take a unilateral decision on the fees, saying a committee of the State Executive Council (SEC) recommended the new fees.
He therefore, insisted that the same committee must review it and recommend to the Cabinet for a decision to be taken.
Fashola assuring that the matter has already been referred to the committee for review.
