The member representing Keffi East Constituency, at the Nasarawa state House of Assembly, Abdulaziz S. Danladi has dumped the Social Democratic Party( SDP) and joined the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Balarabe Abdullahi, Speaker of the Assembly, read the defection letter of the lawmaker to the members present, during the house proceedings in Lafia, Monday.
Danladi, while addressing the press shortly after his defection, said that his decision to join the APC was as a result of the developmental strides of President Muhammadu Buhari, Governor Abdullahi Sule and the speaker’s pragmatic and inclusive leadership.
“First and foremost, I want to thank the leaders and supporters of my former party, SDP, for the support and mandate given to me as member of the state legislator.
” I was formerly a member of APC but it was due to disagreement that I left the party to SDP.
“What informed me to rejoin the party, APC was as a result of the pragmatic leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari, governor Abdullahi Sule, as well as the outstanding performance and inclusive leadership of our Speaker, RT.Hon Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi.
” I want to join them to continue to contribute my quota to the development of my constituency, the state and the country at large.
According to him, it is not far from the truth that the current crisis in SDP has further influenced his decision to leave the party.
When asked how his constituents feel about his defection, he said that they did not object to it.
“My constituents have already given me approval and blessing to join APC,” he said.
The lawmaker assured that his defection to the ruling party will in no way hinder him from giving his constituents quality representation at the state legislature, adding that in no distant time, himself and his teaming supporters will be received officially in Keffi town, Keffi local government area of the state.
Speaker of the Assembly, Balarabe Abdullahi, in his remark congratulated him, urging him to continue to remain steadfast and focused towards contributing his quota to the development of his constituency, the party and the state in general.
“Let me use this opportunity to congratulate our brother, Hon Abdulaziz for joining our party, APC. You are indeed welcome home.
He assured the lawmaker maker that the APC is ready to extend hands of friendship to him at all times, urging other lawmakers from other parties to take a leaf from Danladi and join APC.
“I also expect other members from the other sides to join our party soon.
“We will want to see at the end of the day that everybody in the state is a member of APC,” he said.
Balarabe Abdullahi assured him of equal opportunity in the party, and presented him with a broom as the house leader Hon. Tanko Tunga officially received him into the party.
