The Immediate past Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, has emerged the new Emir of Kano, succeeding late Ado Bayero.
Contrary to earlier report, the Secretary to the Kano State Government, Rabi’u Sulaiman Bichi, formally announced Sanusi Lamido Sanusi as the new Emir on Sunday.
Sanusi had deceived the media and the public via his twitter handle, twitting that the first son of the late Emir, Sunusi Ado Bayero, had been picked as the new Emir.
Shortly after the tweet, the social media and online were awashed with the news.
Governor Rabiu Musa Kwakwanso, had promised to unveil the new Emir today (Sunday) when the Kano Kingmakers paid him a condolence visit on Saturday.
Sanusi was suspended as CBN Governor by President Goodluck Jonathan earlier in the year on allegations bothering on financial recklessness.
