Nasarawa State House of Assembly, has suspended the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to Gov. Abdullahi Sule on Development Control, Stanley Buba to pave way for investigation on the activities of the state Urban Development Board (NUDB).
Speaker of the House, Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, made the pronouncement after Stanley Buba appeared during the House Proceedings in Lafia, Wednesday.
According to the speaker, the SSA’s appearance is to give him an opportunity to give some clarifications on the activities of the board in the state, and also for the purpose of fair hearing.
Balarabe Abdullahi said that the decision taken by the House on the need for the SSA to step aside was to ensure thorough investigation on the activities of the NUDB in the state.
“Based on the resolution of the House, it is resolve that the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to Gov. Abdullahi Sule on Development Control, Arc. Stanley Buba should step aside to enable the committee to carry out its duties effectively without interference.
Members of the six man investigative committee are ; David Maiyaki (PDP- Karu/Gitata)-Chairman, Mohammed Okpoku ( APC- Udege/Loko)Deputy Chairman, Suleiman Yakubu Azara (APC-Awe South).
Other members are ; Daniel Ogazi (APC-Kokona East), Abdullahi Angibi (APC Lafia Central)and Mohammed Bello Isa (APC- Uke/Karshi). While the Secretary of the Committee is the Deputy Clerk to the House, Ibrahim Musa.
The speaker gave the committee three months to submit its report to the House.
Other lawmakers, who spoke during the appearance of the SSA asked questions like, who is the Chief Accounting Officer of the board? who is supposed to give approval on the activities of the board? Among others.
Responding to some of the questions, the SSA admitted that the Managing Director(MD) of the NUDB is the Chief Accounting Officer of the board.
He however said that the schedule of duties given to him by the governor include granting of approval among others.
PROMPT NEWS notes that there has been a Cold War in the Urban Development Board (NUDB), between the board’s Managing Director (MD),Town Planner Adamu Sule Mohammed and Arc Stanley Buba, Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to Gov. Abdullahi Sule on Development Control.
Recall that the state House of Assembly committee on NUDB, headed by Suleiman Yakubu Azara (APC-Awe-South), on 1st of September, summoned them to appear before the house in an effort to resolve the leadership crisis once and for all.
Efforts to resolve the crisis proved abortive as the Assembly again invited the SSA back to the house to explain to the House, why he undermined the resolutions passed by the House Committee on NUDB over the leadership crisis.
