Vice President Mohammed Namadi Sambo has joined other well-meaning Nigerians to pray for the repose of the soul of the Emir of Gombe, Usman Shehu Abubakar, who died Tuesday at a London hospital.
Sambo, arrived Gombe airport at about 4.00pm and participated in the burial rites of the Late Emir. After the burial, he prayed with the immediate family members of the deceased and asked Allah to grant the Emir eternal rest and the family as well as the people of Gombe State the fortitude to bear the loss.
Vice President Sambo also handed a letter of condolence from President Goodluck Jonathan to Governor Ibrahim Dankwambo of Gombe State.
The Late Emir, Usman Shehu Abubakar, was the Chairman, Council of Chiefs of Gombe State. He was fondly called the father of Gombe State because of his generosity and advocacy for peace. He has been on the throne for nearly thirty years.
The Vice President was accompanied by the Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, Minister of Transport and other senior government officials.
